Empowerment Program for Girls

Open to 3rd-5th grade & 6th-8th grade. Open to Princeton Residents and Non-Residents.


Once a week, for 6 weeks, each Wednesday in the Community Room in the Municipal Building (400 Witherspoon Street, Princeton NJ) from January 11- February 15.

The class will be offered in two separate age groups:

Grades 3-5: 4:00-5:00pm (1/11-2/15)

Grades 6-8: 5:15-6:15pm (1/11-2/15)

$36.00 for Princeton Residents, $51 for Non-Residents

Program Description: 

This program will encourage girls from various backgrounds and social cliques to come together in a safe place; talk about important life topics; and to break down social barriers; to encourage girls to embrace who they are and find their inner strength to spread kindness; to empower them to be a part of a supportive environment or 'sisterhood' amongst themselves and their friends.

Program Directors:

Sharon Vunk & Lindsey Garriton

Sharon Vunk:  Sharon Vunk had been teaching in the Princeton area for 13 years at the elementary and middle school level. She has experience working with various age levels in many settings from schools to summer camps. Working in those settings, she has unfortunately seen how girls can treat each other and doubt themselves in an effort to be cool or fit in. She is passionate about helping girls increase their self-esteem and build healthy relationships. 

Lindsey Garriton: Lindsey Garriton has a Masters in Special Education and a Bachelor’s in History and Elementary Education from Montclair State University. She has been teaching for 11 years in many different grades. She has been teaching 5th grade at Johnson Park Elementary for the past 4 years.
