On Nov. 4, 2020, Governor Murphy enacted a law that will ban plastic bags, polystyrene foam containers and makes plastic straws available by request only. The disposable bag ban is now in effect. This law will encourage the use of reusable bags and phase out single-use plastic and paper bags at grocery stores, measuring more than 2,500 square feet, and retail outlets.
Complaints in regards to plastic bags and polystyrene foam containers should be referred to the Mercer County Division of Public Health, 609-278-7165.
